Interaction of paint server templates and animations

Paint server templates can replace child content of a paint server, including <animate>. But the href attribute itself is animatable. So I can have an animation that replaces the href, thereby replacing itself by different animations.

Have the consequences of this been thought through?

What are the expected semantics for changing out animations mid-animation?

My reading is that's supposed to work the same as for <use> elements: https://svgwg.org/svg2-draft/struct.html#UseAnimations
