When I go to Books Management: /admin/libri and try to do a search Genre: Eksillitteratur (Skønlitteratur) I get "No matching records found".

From within the Database a search for genere_id "Eksillitteratur - 199"

also gives me "0" hits.

If I do a search for genere_id 5, which is a top Genre, I get the expected result.

Does that mean, you only can search for the top Genre values and not for the sub-values?

Hi Uwe,

Thank you for reporting this. You were right — filtering by sub-genres (non-root genres) was not working correctly. The query was only matching against the main genre field, missing books classified under sub-genres.

I've fixed the search logic to check across all genre levels (root, genre, and sub-genre), so filtering by any genre in the hierarchy will now return the expected results.

This will be available in the next release.

v0.4.9.2 has been released and should resolve this issue.

The fix is in the book filtering logic: previously, when filtering by genre in the admin book list, the query only matched against the top-level genere_id field. If a book was classified under a sub-genre (e.g., "Eksillitteratur" under "Skønlitteratur"), the filter wouldn't find it because it wasn't checking the full genre hierarchy.

I reworked the genre resolution to walk the entire hierarchy chain — so now when you filter by any genre (whether it's a root genre, a mid-level genre, or a leaf sub-genre), the search correctly matches books at that level and all its descendants.

You can update directly from Admin → Updates within the app.

Thanks for reporting these issues, Uwe — your detailed screenshots and SQL examples were very helpful in tracking down the root causes.

I've now replied to all three open issues (#63, #66, #67) with explanations of the fixes included in v0.4.9.2. Whenever you get a chance to update and test, please let me know how it goes — I'll close the issues once you confirm everything works as expected on your end.

When I click on the Genre "Historie . Biografier . Erindringer" I do not start a search by this genre. Pinakes gives me this page:

Thanks for the detailed screenshots — very helpful.

I've investigated and found an issue in the genre archive page: when you navigated to a genre, it only showed books assigned directly to that exact genre, not books under its sub-genres. I've fixed this so that clicking on any genre now returns books from the entire subtree (the genre itself + all its children and grandchildren).

However, I'm not 100% sure this is what's causing the empty page you're seeing. In my testing, the genre link from the book detail page points to the catalog filter (/katalog?genere=GenreName), and that filter was already working correctly with the hierarchy.

Could you help me narrow it down? When you click on the genre and get the empty page:

1. What is the full URL in the browser address bar? (e.g., does it look like /katalog?genere=... or /genre/... or something else?)
2. A screenshot of the browser address bar on the empty page would be very helpful

This will help me understand exactly which code path is being triggered and reproduce the issue on my end.

By pointing to the genre "Historie . Biografier . Erindringer" I can see the link and the page, which is opened by clicking on the link:

Thanks for the URL and the screenshot — that confirmed the issue!

The problem is that the genre link in the book detail page was pointing to /admin/generi/5, which is the genre management page (where you can edit, rename, or merge genres). That's why you saw the genre details instead of a list of books.

I've fixed the link so that clicking on a genre name in the book detail page now takes you to /admin/libri?genere=5 — the book list filtered by that genre, which is the expected behavior when you want to see all books in a genre.

This will be included in the next release.
