Genre fields in records

I have a record with two values (main and sub-value) in the Genre field:

When I want to edit the record and push the Edit button the editor do not show the existing values in the Genre fields:

If I save this record - unless I reenter the earlier choosen values in the Genre fields - the record do not show the Genere fields any more:

Then I have to re-edit the post and re-enter the values by hand.

Thank you for reporting this issue — you were absolutely right.

I identified the root cause: when editing a book, the genre hierarchy (Root → Genre → Subgenre) was not being correctly resolved, so the cascade dropdowns appeared empty. Saving without re-selecting the values would then clear them from the record.

This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.

v0.4.9.2 has been released and should resolve this issue.

The root cause was in the genre hierarchy resolution: when loading a book for editing, the backend was not walking the ancestor chain from the stored genere_id back up to the root. As a result, the 3-level cascade dropdowns (Root → Genre → Subgenre) appeared empty. Saving the form in that state would then clear the genre fields from the record.

I added a resolveGenreHierarchy() method that walks up the parent chain from the stored genre, reconstructs the full hierarchy (root, genre, subgenre), and populates all three cascade levels correctly. Now when you open the edit form, the dropdowns are pre-filled with the existing values, and saving without changes preserves them.

Please let me know if the issue persists after updating.

This was fixed in a previous release and is confirmed working in v0.4.9.4. Genre fields are now correctly pre-populated when editing a book record — the 3-level genre cascade (main genre → subgenre → sub-subgenre) loads the saved values on edit.

This is covered by E2E regression tests (Phase 6: Edit Book) that verify genre persistence after save.
